Scopus Increases Market Presence with Launch of North American Headquarters
Princeton, N.J., July 10, 2003 Scopus Network Technologies, an innovator in providing end-to-end system solutions for the delivery of digital TV and data over broadband networks, today announced the opening of the company’s North American headquarters with industry veteran Carlo Basile as its president. Located in Princeton, N.J., the new office was opened to facilitate rapid growth for Scopus within the North American satellite, broadcast, cable, and telecommunications markets.

“By establishing centralized operations in our East Coast office, we will be able to enhance service and support for our existing client base, while developing products tailored specifically for the unique needs of the North American market,” said Basile. “This is an exciting time for Scopus with the recent launch of our Intelligent Video Network for enhanced video routing, processing, and management over broadband networks – and an excellent opportunity to introduce our landmark solutions to a broader market.”

Basile brings to Scopus more than 20 years of experience in leading operations, business, and engineering development for technology companies in the consumer electronics, multimedia, and broadcast TV industries. As president, he will be responsible for guiding and managing the company’s continued growth within the Americas.

Before joining Scopus, Basile was COO at MoreCom Inc., an ITV company that developed a unique expertise in the DVB environment and with the Motorola and Scientific Atlanta North American cable platforms. Prior to MoreCom, Basile was CTO at Princeton Video Image, Inc., where he helped to bring the highly successful “NFL First-Down Line” to national broadcast audiences.

Basile has held senior management positions with Philips Electronics North America, with global R&D responsibilities for the company’s entire digital television, Internet TV, DVD, HDTV, LCD, and plasma display product lines. He also played a role in the development of the Digital Television Standard, for which he earned an Emmy® award in 1997, and has been a key figure in several industry groups, including MPEG, ACATS, ATSC, and DVD Forum.
